Privacy policy

One thing at most. The contact form asks for your name and an email address we can reply to, and it lets you add a message if you want to. Those are the only fields. The form asks for nothing else, and the site has no accounts, no logins, and no other place where you can enter information.

The contact form is connected. This paragraph is the replacement the earlier version of this page promised, and it states exactly what happens. When you press send, what you typed is written to a database Marrow Technologies controls, and you are told it worked only once that write is confirmed. If it cannot be stored you are told plainly that it was not, and never shown a tick that means nothing. What is kept is what you typed: your name, your email address, your message, and the time it arrived. Nothing else about you is recorded with it.

A submission is read by a person, used to reply to you and for no other purpose, never added to a marketing list, never sold, and never shared with anyone outside the company. There is no mail account attached to this form today, so submissions are stored and read rather than emailed anywhere. If that changes, a copy goes to Marrow Technologies by email and nowhere else, and the commitment in this paragraph is unchanged by it.

One thing is recorded that you did not type, and it is worth naming rather than leaving in a log. To stop a machine flooding this form, the site counts recent submissions against a one way scrambled form of your network address. It cannot be turned back into your address, it carries no part of what you wrote, and it is used for nothing but that count. It sits in its own table and is cleared automatically after a day. If nobody writes to us for a stretch, the last few wait there until the next message arrives, because that is when the clearing runs.

One precise limit on the sentence above, because we would rather state it than let you assume more than we can deliver. The counter is stored with a coarse timestamp so it does not line up row for row with any message. It is not a claim that nobody holding both the database and our secret key could ever reason about who wrote when. It is a claim that we do not link them, that the counter holds nothing you typed, and that it is gone in a day.

This site currently runs no analytics. No analytics script is loaded, no visitor measurement takes place, and no tracking identifier is set. If a privacy respecting analytics tool is added later, this policy will be updated first, and the tool will be one whose collection can be described here in one sentence.

The home page shows a small record of the sections you have reached while you read it. That record is drawn on the page and nowhere else. It is not stored on your device, it is not sent anywhere, and it is gone the moment you close the tab.

This site sets no cookies.

Pages on this site make no third party requests. No advertising pixels, no session recording, no chat widget, and no external fonts. Everything the page needs is served with the page.

The infrastructure that serves this site keeps standard technical logs, such as the network address a request came from, for security and delivery. Marrow Technologies does not use those logs to identify or profile visitors.

Contact messages are kept as ordinary business correspondence. If you want a message you sent removed, ask through the contact form and it will be deleted, unless a legal obligation requires keeping it.

This policy is dated. If it changes, the new version is posted here with a new date.
